The Post Barn, Snelsmore House

The Post Barn at Snelsmore House has a proper dressing room with lit mirrors, and a panelled staircase with leaded windows for the walk down. One end of the barn is almost entirely glass, and you marry with tall windows behind the celebrant and Berkshire woodland beyond, so the room is full of daylight for the vows. The oak frame overhead adds height, and the neutral interior means your own colours stand out.

Outside, the brick steps suit the bridal party, the lawns have room for everybody at once, and there’s a fairy-lit arch in the garden that looks good by day and even better after dark. In autumn the trees behind the glass change colour, so you get that colour inside as well as out.

Last thing at night, walk out into the dark grounds and look back to see the barn lit up from inside.
