The Post Barn, Snelsmore House

One end of the Post Barn is basically glass, and that decides how the whole day looks. You marry with tall windows behind the celebrant and Berkshire woodland beyond them, so the room fills with daylight and we shoot the vows, the rings and the walk back out without a flash anywhere near it. The oak frame overhead gives the pictures height, and the interior is neutral enough that whatever colours you bring are the only colours in them. There’s a proper dressing room with lit mirrors, and a panelled staircase with leaded windows for the walk down. Outside, the brick steps take the bridal party, the lawns take everybody at once, and a fairy-lit arch in the garden works in daylight and comes into its own after dark. Autumn is the season to want, because the trees behind the glass turn and you get that colour indoors as well as out. Last thing, walk out into the dark grounds and look back, because the barn glows like a lantern from there.
