Old Luxters Barn

Old Luxters Barn asks you for ten minutes and a pair of wellies, and it pays off. A short walk up through the woods behind the barn opens onto rolling Buckinghamshire countryside with nothing built in it, and that’s where the picture you end up hanging on a wall comes from. We did this one in the wet, red wellies and a clear umbrella, and the soft light made it better rather than worse. You marry in the barn, timber beams and fairy lights overhead with bright glass doors behind the celebrant. Outside there’s a flint-walled courtyard for the confetti, a small farmhouse garden that covers the portraits if time is tight, and vines that take autumn colour well. The barn goes warm at night under fairy lights and festoons, and the dancing stays in there.
