Hyde House

Hyde House - wedding photography

Autumn is when we’d want to shoot Hyde House. An avenue of pleached trees in the Gloucestershire grounds turns properly gold, the beech hedge goes with it, and Virginia creeper runs right up the Cotswold stone, so the walls themselves change colour and your portraits stop needing anything else in them. The terrace is the other reason. It looks straight out over open countryside, and standing you on it gives a frame with nothing but hills behind. The oak arbour in the garden earns its keep twice: an outdoor ceremony under it with the fields beyond, then the same spot again after dark when it’s fairy-lit and everyone else has gone inside. You marry in the beamed barn, high rafters and good light through the oak-framed windows, and the bridal suite above has sloping skylights that make the morning easy to shoot. Dinner and the party stay in the barn under lit trusses. It’s yours for the day, so nothing has to be timed around another wedding.
