Grittleton House - wedding photography

Grittleton House has two staircases, and we’d use them both. One is red-carpeted and grand, so the walk down it makes a picture on its own, while the other curves round in a double sweep that looks best from the floor below. Between them is a galleried hall with statues in arched niches and a chandelier hanging through the middle, which is where we go if the weather makes the decision for us.

The ceremony room is damask-walled, with tall windows that keep it bright. Out on the lawn opposite the Gothic front there’s room for every guest, with the whole house behind them. Stone urns and terraces give the couple portraits some shape.

Dinner is in a red dining room hung with portraits. As night falls the house is floodlit, the orangery windows along the garden side turn amber, and there’s a lit stone archway to stand in before you head back to the party.
