Glenfall House

The staircase is the thing we would use twice at Glenfall House. In a Gloucestershire house full of good rooms it’s still the standout - a big sweep of polished wood, hung with bulb lights and lined with lanterns, so it works in the morning on daylight and again at eleven at night on its own glow, and a train laid down those steps is one of the strongest frames of the day. The bedrooms are quiet with big windows, which makes your morning gentle and gives us proper light for the dress. You marry in a drawing room by a bay window with candles down the aisle, and the register gets signed with the garden right outside the glass. Then the gardens: an old tree with a rope swing under it that couples always end up playing on, a dry-stone wall, cottage borders, a rose garden and an ivy-topped stone archway. The steps at the front take the confetti and the whole group. Give us two minutes once it’s dark and you get the house lit behind you with the two of you in the doorway.
