Heythrop Park is made for big weddings, and your guest list can run to hundreds without the rooms ever feeling full. The wide gravel forecourt in front of the columned house has room for cars and a crowd in one picture, so if you’re arriving in style, this is where it shows.

Inside, the lobby is arched and columned, with lamps glowing beside the sofas, and the staircase is wide enough for a grand walk down. The panelled and papered rooms show off richly embroidered outfits beautifully, and there’s a smaller, warmer room with an ornate fireplace for a nikah or a more intimate ceremony. The glass marquee seats several hundred, and the lawns can take a family group of a hundred in one line.

At night the whole house is floodlit, and fireworks over the parkland make a fitting finish.
