Crockwell Farm

Ten minutes under the lit tree is the thing we’d ask you to protect at Crockwell Farm. It stands on its own beside the honey-stone farmhouse with lights threaded through the branches, and once the sun has dropped behind the Northamptonshire fields it gives you a portrait with nothing modern anywhere in the frame. The rest of the site is fields, which we like. There’s long hay meadow for something soft, a fence line, a country lane, a spreading tree and a wooden pergola, all within a short walk, so your couple portraits don’t end up looking like one background shot eight ways. The getting-ready room is panelled and curtained with plenty of daylight coming in, which makes the morning slow and easy. The marquee is lined and hung with foliage chandeliers, and it takes colour well once the band starts, so the party frames come out warm rather than washed out. Rain won’t ruin it either. The lane and the trees still work under a grey sky, and it only really costs you the meadow.
