Mornings at Clevedon Hall are unhurried, in big classic bedrooms with lots of natural light. The ceremony is in the Orangery, which has glass overhead and tall windows down both sides, so the light is soft and even. When you come out, the main entrance with its stone columns holds every one of your guests, with the house framing the big photo.

The grounds are the best part. The lawns roll away with the house behind you, and there’s a lake with a small island and a white ornamental bridge for quieter moments. You’ll also find a wildflower meadow by the willows, and a rope swing tucked under the trees.

Dinner is in the panelled library, all dark wood and bookshelves, so the speeches feel cosy and quite different from the ceremony. After sunset the house is lit up and the arched windows shine out, and it’s worth heading out to see it.
