Wedding Photography & Videography FAQ

The things couples ask us most often.

  • What area do you cover, and do you charge travel expenses? No expenses within our service area - Southern and central England, plus South Wales. Outside that, we just ask for a small travel supplement.
  • What if I have to postpone my wedding - for COVID or similar reasons beyond my control? We’ll do our very best to reschedule your booking for the new date, with no extra charges.
  • Do you shoot the photos and video at the same time? How does that work? There are two of us, so yes - we can, and usually do, capture photo and video at the same time, for example during the ceremony. Both of us switch freely between stills and video, so even when we’re separated (during the morning prep, say, with one of us on the bride and the other on the groom) each side still gets both photo and video, simply by switching every few minutes.
  • Do we need to pay the full fee before the wedding?

Digital-only packages: two payments - a £100 deposit to book, and the balance one month before the wedding.

Packages with a physical deliverable (an album, etc.): three payments - the £100 deposit, the balance one month before, and a final £100 once we’ve delivered your gallery. For example, on the Album £1520 package: £100 to book, £1320 a month before, then £100 afterwards.

Either way, you can pay in monthly instalments if that’s easier.

  • How do we book you?Just get in touch: fill in the contact form, send an email, or give us a call. We’ll normally reply within a few hours, the next day at the latest. We’ll then exchange a few emails about the details of your wedding. If you’d like to talk before booking - in person or over a phone or video call - we’re happy to. Equally, there’s no need to, and plenty of couples book without it. When you decide to go ahead, you pay a £100 deposit and sign a contract. Once the deposit is paid, the date is yours.
  • Are there any hidden charges? No. If you’re happy with what’s included in the package, that price is the price you’ll pay - no charges for our expenses, VAT or anything else. If you’d like additional products that aren’t in the package, we’ll always give you a clear idea of the cost in advance.
  • Can we meet in person or have a call?Absolutely. We’d love to meet you both before you book, or at any other time. If meeting in person is impractical, we can just have a phone or video call.
  • Do you use drones?Yes - we have a drone and use it for both photo and video. Some venues are fussy about drones, so if aerial footage matters to you, let us know and we’ll explain the details.
  • I hate posing - is that a problem? Not at all. We both prefer natural-looking portraits and know how to get them. Can you cuddle up with your partner? If so, that’s about all the posing you’ll need. A pre-wedding shoot can help too: you get used to being photographed by us, so neither of you feels awkward on the day. It’s completely optional, of course.
  • What does ‘editing’ or ‘retouching’ mean?Every photo we deliver is edited by hand - no presets, no batch jobs, no AI smoothing. For the full detail, have a look at our editing and retouching page.
  • When will the photos be ready? Most couples have their digital files within a month of the wedding, and their printed album within about four months. For the full breakdown, see our waiting time page.
  • What’s your booking / shooting / post-processing workflow?Please have a look at our workflow page.
  • What about copyright? You’ll own the full rights to your photographs. No licensing nonsense - your photos are yours, full stop. If you’re happy for us to use them for marketing (on social media and the like), we’d be grateful, but that’s completely optional.
  • Do you always work together?Yes - we’re an inseparable team and always work together. We capture the whole day from two different angles, both for variety and for peace of mind. We can split up when it helps, for example one of us photographing the bride getting ready while the other is with the groom, but we always come together for the wedding itself.
  • Will you have backup gear on the day?Yes - a spare camera, lenses and lighting in case something breaks down. We don’t need it too often, as we use very reliable, professional equipment, but it’s always there.
  • Do you use lighting equipment?Sometimes. We use natural light where the light is good, and switch to strobes when they give us a better result.
  • Do you have insurance?Yes - we’re fully covered.
  • I can’t find my question here. Please don’t hesitate to contact us - we’ll be happy to answer any questions at all.
