Wedding Photography & Videography FAQ
The things couples ask us most often.
Do you shoot the photos and video at the same time? How does that work?
There are two of us and we’re an inseparable team - we always work together, both of us there throughout the day. Both of us switch freely between stills and video, so even when we split up briefly (during the morning prep, say, with one of us on the bride and the other on the groom) each side still gets both, simply by switching the camera between photo and video mode. When we’re together - during the ceremony, for example - we capture photo and video at the same time: we’ll often run three cameras, an unmanned video camera recording from the back and the two of us at the front, each catching stills and video as it unfolds. How long do you stay? Do you work to a set number of hours?
We don’t work by the stopwatch. With our Digital and Album packages, we’re with you from the morning preparations through the cake cutting, first dance and into the evening party. There’s no fixed finishing time: we stay while the day is still giving us something worth keeping. If there are sparklers later, fireworks, a surprise performance or simply a great party still unfolding, we’re not going to leave just because the clock says we should.
Luxury and Grand are different in one respect: there’s no judgement call about when we’ve finished. With those packages we stay right to the end of the party, unless you’re happy for us to leave earlier.
What area do you cover, and do you charge travel expenses?
No expenses within our service area - Southern and central England, or roughly two hours’ drive from us in Didcot. Outside that, we just ask for a small travel supplement, and we’ll always tell you before you book. How do we book you?
Just get in touch: fill in the contact form, send an email, or give us a call. We’ll normally reply within a few hours, the next day at the latest. We’ll then exchange a few emails about the details of your wedding. We’re always happy to meet you both before booking - in person, or over a phone or video call - whatever suits you best. It’s not required, though, and most couples are comfortable booking without it. When you decide to go ahead, you pay a £200 booking fee and sign a contract. The booking fee comes off your package price - it’s the first part of what you’d pay anyway, not an extra. Once it’s paid, the date is yours.Do we need to pay the full fee before the wedding?
Two payments, whatever your package: a £200 booking fee to secure the date, and the balance one month before the wedding.
The booking fee comes off your total - it isn’t an extra charge on top. For example, on the Album £1,780 package: £200 to book, then £1,580 a month before. That’s it.
You can pay in monthly instalments if that’s easier.
Are there any hidden charges?
No. If you’re happy with what’s included in the package, that price is the price you’ll pay - no charges for our expenses, VAT or anything else. If you’d like additional products that aren’t in the package, we’ll always give you a clear idea of the cost in advance.I hate posing - is that a problem?
Not at all. We both prefer natural-looking portraits and know how to get them. Can you cuddle up with your partner? If so, that’s about all the posing you’ll need. A pre-wedding shoot can help too: you get used to being photographed by us, so neither of you feels awkward on the day. It’s completely optional, of course. When will the photos be ready?
Most couples have their digital files within six weeks of the wedding, and their printed album within four months. Very often it’s quicker; at the busiest points of the season it can take longer. For the full breakdown, see our waiting time page. What about copyright?
You’ll own the full rights to your photographs. No licensing nonsense - your photos are yours, full stop. If you’re happy for us to use them for marketing (on social media and the like), we’d be grateful, but that’s completely optional. What if we have to postpone the wedding?
If something beyond your control means you need to move the date, we’ll do our very best to reschedule your booking, with no extra charges. What if one of you is ill and can’t make it on the day?
We’ve been shooting weddings since 2015 and have never missed one yet. There are always two of us on the day, whatever happens - short of a broken limb or a heart attack (and probably even then) we’ll be there. In the very unlikely event one of us genuinely couldn’t make it, we’d bring in a trusted colleague so you’d still have two photographers - and if neither of us could come, we’d find two replacements. Either way, we’d still edit your wedding ourselves, so the finished photos look like our work. We’ve plenty of friends in the industry, so your day is always covered. Will you have backup gear on the day?
Yes - a spare camera, lenses and lighting in case something breaks down. We don’t need it too often, as we use very reliable, professional equipment, but it’s always there.Do you have insurance?
Yes - we carry full public liability insurance, and we’re happy to send your venue a certificate if they ask for one.Do you use drones?
Yes - we have a drone and use it for both photo and video. Some venues are fussy about drones, so if aerial footage matters to you, let us know and we’ll explain the details.Do you use lighting equipment?
Sometimes. We use natural light where the light is good, and switch to strobes when they give us a better result.Do we need to feed you at the reception?
It’s appreciated but not essential. If you’re arranging evening food or a supplier meal, we’re grateful to be included - it keeps us going through a long day and means we’re not off hunting for food when something’s happening. But if it doesn’t fit your plans, don’t worry about it; we’ll sort ourselves out. What does ‘editing’ or ‘retouching’ mean?
You get two sets. The bulk of your photos are delivered as the cameras saw them - selected, but unedited. On top of that, we hand-pick the strongest 400 or more and edit each one by hand - no presets, no batch jobs, no AI smoothing - with many retouched in detail too. For the full detail, have a look at our editing and retouching page. What does your workflow look like, from booking to delivery?
Please have a look at our workflow page.I can’t find my question here.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us - we’ll be happy to answer any questions at all.
Ready to talk about your day?
If you like the way we work, tell us your date - we’d love to hear about your wedding. We always reply, usually the same day, even if we’re already booked.
